Schools should give students gym class everyday because having gym everyday in schools could really help kids with overweight issues. I think that if kids were to get help for their weight problems then they will live happier, healthier lives and not have to worry about other kids making fun of their weight.
As each year goes by, child obesity percentages get higher and higher, and yet very little is being done. Being obese means having too much body fat. You know that a child is obese if their weight is 20% higher than the ideal weight for a boy or girl of their age and weight. Obesity rates have doubled among children and tripled among teens between 1980 and 2000. If something isn't done, this will probably keep happening.
If schools really were to have gym class everyday, the activities should be organized because most schools let kids do what ever they want in gym class, as opposed to giving them exercises to do. Gym classes should include exercises that get the whole body active. This way, the exercises will be very useful to the kids with weight problems.

Amerlin-
Great Editorial! Your thoughts on teen obesity--and obesity on general were well researched and extremely thoughtful. Few people will tackle a controversial issue for fear of possibly hurting their slightly overweight friends. You made your point--you are trying to save them by showing them the path to health. You did it without hitting anyone over the head but rather you used facts and persuasion offering them to get organized and exercise regularly. Really well done. Keep it up.
